On avg. how much does it cost to change a tub into a standing shower?

I am thinking about buying a condo and the bathroom is REALLY small, so am considering changing the tub into a standing shower to create more space. I hate to admit that I am a total girl and have no idea how much this project would cost. I do have some resources in construction that could help with the project. Has anyone done this and could you tell me how much you spent on it. Thank you.On avg. how much does it cost to change a tub into a standing shower?depends on products u use - shower stalls range from $150 - $1000 - youll need 2 frame a wall next 2 the shower- get the plumbing rerouted - a little sheetrock, mud, paint , fix the extra floor area, purchase shower fixtures ( wide price range ) in short a practicle job would be around $1500 - $3000 = G LOn avg. how much does it cost to change a tub into a standing shower?it depends on how fancy of a stall you want to install. if you do it yourself 500 to 750. but the problem you are going to have is the drain going from the stall so the floor/ concrete will have to be altered. to redo the drain. the rest is pretty easy hope this helps in your decision :0)On avg. how much does it cost to change a tub into a standing shower?Depends !!

If you want a custom shower built from the ground up including a shower pan and tile work you can go into thousands by the time the drain work and plumbing fixtures are relocated.

If you are just going to have a fiberglass insert installed you will save some money if this is something you want. The drain and faucet will still have to be relocated but the cost in labor is not as much as would be a custom tile shower.

You will also have a choice of installing a shower door, or use a shower curtain which would also save on cost.

You could spend as much as you like, with the choices of tile and shower doors on the market or you can go basic ...cost will vary depending on your current setup but it would be safe to be prepared for several hundred dollars to remove the existing material then several hundred to change the plumbing and the cost of whatever route you decide to take. Fiberglass inserts can also be a problem to get into the existing doorway and measurements will be critical when deciding

what size you can fit or whether or not you will need to remove the door frame to get the new shower in or the old tub out.

Many factors can change the price.

I have remodeled 100's of bathrooms and the cost utilmately depends on the design you choose.

Basic low end project will still cost you 1000.00- 1500.00 in materials

and anywhere from 2000.00 and up if you go custom.

If you have help you will save on the labor portion, I have remodeled bathrooms over 10,000.00 with Kohler products and fancy tile work.

The sky is the limit. On avg. how much does it cost to change a tub into a standing shower?depends. ill say $1400On avg. how much does it cost to change a tub into a standing shower? The first thing is to measure the opening of your front door, and the hallway width, and the bathroom door opening.

After you know what can fit, you could buy a fiberglass shower/tub combo for about 500 bucks and then go from there.

Another thing, if you have good access to the one wall of the tub, you could leave the tub there, and then alter the plumbing to accommodate a shower head. Plan on some demolition, sheetrock repair, tile work, cement board installing, new pipes and fixtures....

another 500. would not be out of the question.
