Why does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?

they told me it was for an extra quart and a special oil filter that came on four wheel drives. I know synthetic is more than regular but it shouldn't cost double. Why does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?If you go somewhere to get an oil change, it will cost more for a non bulk item such as synthetic oil. Most places that change oil have a bulk tank of say regular 5w30 and 5w30. Buying in bulk allows you to get it at a discount. Synthetic is more expensive to buy to begin with and then the store marks it up to make a profit. This is how businesses stay in business. As far as a special filter, I am not familiar with this. If you want to save some money, go to Wal-mart, buy a six pack of Mobile 1, a filter and do the oil change yourself. You will save approximately $25. Also, synthetic oil lasts longer. Why does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?The synthetic oil is good for 6,000 miles instead of 3,000 miles ?Why does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?Synthetic DOES cost twice as much but I've never of a special filter for 4WD.Why does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?Well, considering that a regular oil change costs anywhere from $25 to $40, I wouldn't think that was too outrageous. Maybe you should look at the breakdown of the price per quart of the oil, the price of the filter, and what they charged you for labor. Call around and see what other shops in your area are charging for the same service. If the shop you used is higher than everyone else, just don't go back. Why does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?because it is scientifically proven to reduce friction and free up horsepower it's worth it in a fast car or race car but i wouldn't bother in a daily driverWhy does a synthetic oil change cost so damn much? I have a Z71 four door and it cost $72?Yeah, and what's that %26quot;scientific proof%26quot; that it frees up power? The commercial? Different weights have a link to that claim but I wouldn't say that synthetic oil creates less friction than conventional.

Synthetic is more expensive and better as far as stability goes. But you are in bad shape in the first place if you are actually creating conditions that mimic the oil in the skillet images that the commercials used to show.

I would be more concerned about the dirt and contaminates that get in the oil and dirty it up. That happens to synthetic as well. Your oil doesn't actually burn up in most cases. It get's too dirty. Of course the synthetic is more stable when contacted with the acids that are created by the combustion process than conventional oil is. However, I assure you that you do not %26quot;need%26quot; the synthetic. As long as you do your oil changes regularly ( I still live by 3000 miles but I work for GM and we say, %26quot;that's too soon. Just trust our oil life moniters.%26quot; Hey, you can't go wrong with the tried and true 3000 miles.) you will be fine running a conventional oil.

If you prefer to run the synthetic, then yeah, be prepared to pay for it. You can get some brands a little cheaper than others but oil, filter, tax out the door that sounds about right.
