How much would it cost to change a piston ring on a 89 crx?

Pistons have several rings, and if one needs replacing, it's not really just that one that needs replacing. But let's imagine that you do replace just one ring. You would have to remove all accessories and electronics from the engine, then remove the cylinder head. From there it wouldn't be very probable that you could remove a piston with the engine still in the car, so you would have to hoist the engine up, remove the oil pan, unbolt the connecting rod from the crankshaft, and then remove the piston. You replace the one ring, put it all back together, and then you have even more serious problems ahead of you as the other rings are probably in very bad shape and the new ring isn't going to seat as well as it should because the cylinder isn't freshly honed. So, I imagine it would be 8 or more hours labor, but if you replaced that one ring you would be happy to know that the parts cost is very, very cheap. You would, however, have gaskets to replace so say the total parts cost for this would be $50-$100. This plus labor would be upwards of $600. Worth it for ONE piston ring??? I don't think so.
